University Structured School

River’s Edge Christian Academy meets only three days per week – Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.  Classroom teachers provide instruction to students on those three days per week while parents, as co-teachers, provide instruction at home two days per week.  We provide families with a core academic curriculum including math, science, social studies, and language arts.  On the two home study days, parents and students follow weekly assignments provided by the classroom teacher, reinforcing the classroom concepts and teaching new concepts as needed.  Parents can also make provisions for their children’s further individualized educational needs on the two home study days by providing additional instruction or extra-curricular activities that are not offered by the school.

Elementary students are on campus for five hours. Middle school students and high school students have school days that vary in length depending on how many classes they are taking.  River’s Edge recognizes that academic instruction is only one part of a child’s total learning.  The shortened school day encourages family interaction, while still allowing for involvement in extra-curricular activities.
